Resolution by the Rhode Island House of Representatives congratulating the Rhode Island Rivers Council on the Occasion of its 25th Anniversary
On Saturday October 9th, 2016, one of our longest serving RI Rivers Council members, Guy Lefebvre, passed away from cancer. This is a big loss for RIRC and the Rhode Island environmental community, and for Rhode Island’s natural environment. Guy was RIRC’s Chair or Co-Chair from December 2007 to September 2013 and was instrumental in keeping RIRC always moving forward with new ideas. He was very proud at our Annual Meeting last January to be on the House floor when the RIRC received a citation from the RI State House for 25 years of service to the state of RI (see photo at left--Guy is fifth from the left). He also served on committees for numerous organizations including the Pawtuxet River Authority, of which he was the director; the Rhode Island Environmental Policy Council; the Rhode Island Tree Council and the Watershed Stewardship Program. Guy will be greatly missed by us all.
